Wordle goes viral

Great analysis of the Wordle tweets. Well worth the read — even if you don’t play Wordle. Really shows the power of the share button Wordle created!

Crypto, NFTs, Wash Trading — as a growth hack?

Twitter thread below is thought-provoking. Give it a read. One sentence summary: Details an NFT marketplace trying to growth hack via wash trading.

1/ I see a lot of people talking about the wash trading on @LooksRareNFT. So is it actually happening? Yes Is it by design? Probably Is it a bad thing? I don't think so. In fact, I think it's genius. Let's dive in 🧵

Checking in with Dune Analytics — it seems that trading has significantly slowed on Rare. I’m not sure what the takeaway is from the slowed trade volume. Is it that the growth hack worked, but users didn’t stick? That OpenSea found a counter? Or that OpenSea is so dominant, their moat so entrenched that they didn’t need to counter?

Last month was the hottest June on record in North America. 1,200 daytime records were broken in the final week. But there was an even greater number of daily records set by a different — and maybe more dangerous — measure: overnight temperatures.

1/n Prepare for the unthinkable. Our new @NatureClimate study with @Knutti_ETH and @ssippel87 shows that the coming decades will bring more record heat that literally shatters existing temperature records like in the Pacific NW

Spend 10-15 minutes to read these 3 tweets/articles, understand them, and then see the forecast for your county. Frankly, it seems that a large fraction of the US will become very uncomfortable/dangerous to call home. Have you seen similar reports for Mexico, other parts of the Americas?

Fun

Call on me by Eric Prydz — was originally created by Thomas Bangalter (1/2 of Daft Punk) before Bangalter co-created Daft Punk. I’ve loved the Prydz version for ~2 decades — how am I just learning the true origin story?! Red Kult created an alternate version (below) based on Bangalter’s original … before Prydz.
